Aug.13, 2020: Visited graves of the Sogo family

Aug.13, 2020: Visited graves of the Sogo family in intense heat, as a Japanese custom during Obon. The third mourning of my wife is coming soon. My relegion is a Japanese Zen Buddhism sect called Soto. The Soto sect in Japan was introduced by Dogen. In the Soto sect, meditators face a wall of Zendo hall and sit in lotus position. Life is full of ups and downs, and I will just keep moving forward with the spirit of Daruma. “Fall seven times and up eight times !!”

October 5, 2025: Watched the movie "One Battle After Another" in Minoh, Osaka

October 5, 2025: On Sunday evening in Minoh, Osaka, I watched the movie "One Battle After Another." It was a fast-paced and entertaining film with a very distinctive atmosphere. I was quite surprised to see the karate kata "Heian Nidan" featured in the movie. After the movie, I enjoyed my favorite Osaka specialty, okonomiyaki. I watched the movie "Killers of the Flower Moon" two years ago. Both "One Battle after Another" and "Killers of the Flower Moon" star Leonardo DiCaprio and deal with social issues in the United States, but their styles are completely different. The former is fast-paced and entertainment-oriented, treating social themes lightly, while the latter portrays a historical tragedy with depth, delving deeply into moral and racial issues. Through both films, DiCaprio’s remarkable range as an actor truly stands out.

October 18, 2025: Had lunch at Osaka Itami Airport. The long summer has come to an end, and on this drizzly weekend at Itami, there’s a hint of autumn in the air. They say the real autumn will arrive starting next week. October 19, 2025: On Sunday morning, I had breakfast at the Starbucks in Hattori Ryokuchi Park.
